The contents of this otherworldly tome were translated by Latvian-born American Nick Mezins, son of Mary and Janoss Mezins, who were the "human vehicles" through whom the book was given to the world. The activity began when Mary and others tried to communicate with higher beings in the dark and terrifying days before the Second World War, when Latvia would soon lose her newfound independence and be annexed by the USSR through a secret pact with Hitler. A small group of believers continued the reception/transcription process throughout the war, this portion coming in 1943-45. Later, the group's members dispersed; some fled to the US, resuming the sessions until 1971.
Many different spirits (Santorino, Indra, Omega, Ilgya, and others) delivered the messages, sometimes speaking directly to a human contact about a particular past life experience. The book contains philosophy ("good and evil are notions of an entirely relative nature"), futuristic predictions ("the most important moment of fate for the nations on Earth approaches"), and commentary on scripture ("the Old Testament of the Bible is the book of fairy tales of a barbaric and merciless nation"). There is a sense from these beings that no matter how much they reveal, mankind will want still more knowledge, so these envoys must again and again attempt to slake man's thirst for understanding of the divine plan and of etheric hierarchies. The messages are often given as lengthy parables, not dissimilar to allegorical stories related by Jesus and other great world teachers.
This dense chronological collection of spirit messages received during critical years in the turmoil of war gave hope and inspiration to those receiving them, so that even now their families feel the need to share them with the rest of humanity.
