"‘You can freely and voluntarily climb down them ropes; or the third Mate and the boatswain’ll throw you overboard.'"

Time spent on the high seas is not what it’s cracked up to be in this thriller as a container ship with a record of notorious mistreatment and exploitation becomes a murderous vessel. When two men, one Portuguese and one Spanish, find their way to a law firm in Minneapolis looking for help, the law firm is tasked with proving that this ship was indeed guilty and liable for the misdeeds. Outside of getting the shipping company to flat out admit that they did indeed perpetrate all of this torment and anguish, the only other option would be to send an investigator undercover to verify the claims and then present a first-hand account of corroboration. However, while the hardened private investigator might indeed be able to compile enough evidence of the wrong-doing, he could also get himself in much deeper then he would have ever anticipated.

This multi-cultural work that spans three continents and all the water in between serves as a pertinent linguistic tour of the North African coast, along with all of the political and religious division that has haunted the area for centuries. Although a good portion of the story takes place in the courtroom and is filled with legal jargon, the author finds ways to present all of the overstated lawyer-speak in a way that is easy for readers to digest. Sabio takes the time to delve into all sorts of salient provincial and diplomatic facts in a meaningful and natural manner that will keep readers flipping through the book almost as fast as the story unfolds.
