Unintended Consequences
by Bill Shaner
Pantha Publishing

"But it's not what happens to you, it's what you do about it."

He had it all: good looks, success at age thirty-one, and all the "toys" a man could desire. On July 11, 1989, all crumbled when Bill Shaner decided to personally supervise his crew setting trusses on a construction site. A span of 65 foot roof trusses broke loose and pinned him beneath a pile of rubble. And, though this man survived thirteen hours of surgery, he was told there was a 99% chance he would never walk again. Having had a near-death experience, hearing a voice in the light assure him "everything will be all right," Bill wouldn't accept the medical verdict.

This spiritual memoir takes the reader on the journey from injury, through the trials of a difficult recovery, and into life examination. With faith and determination, Shaner creates a new life while drawing on strength from places he didn't know existed. In this reflection on the most important event in his life, the author offers the belief that if we continue to make the same choices, we can expect the same results good or bad. Change is necessary.

The author gives readers not only this story of life and death, but offers a spiritual awakening for all. He champions seeking out the path needed to become our authentic selves. Readers who go on this spiritual quest will be grateful for Bill Shaner's reminder: Find Life's blessings in what you have. This author has a message of hope and faith; hopefully, he will continue to share the living-life-to-the-fullest journey.
