Walking The Believers Through To Be A
Success In What They Ask From God by Donnie McLeod Trafford Publishing
book review by RJM Terrado
"God's strategic plan denotes what God has already in advance intended (premeditated) for our lives and it can't be altered."
Several stories in the Scriptures recount events where in a Bible character makes a petition before God, and He positively responds regardless of whether a request sounds impossible or not. Jabez had his prayer answered. Hannah saw her request came into reality. The woman who touched the hem of Jesus' clothing received healing. While their stories remind believers that God's heart is to bless, experience will tell that not all prayers are answered. Thus, a question begs an answer: What kind of prayer triggers a prompt response from God? It is in this context that McLeod drafts Walking The Believers Through To Be A Success In What They Ask From God.
McLeod draws on elements found all throughout the Scriptures including an explicit connection between obedience and submission to God's plan and the fulfillment of believers' request. According to McLeod, obedience makes any prayer request relevant. Basing his analysis on the third verse of the fourth chapter of the book of James, he posits that prayers that are motivated by obsession and selfishness do not move God. He, however, pays attention to a prayer motivated by a genuine need and a sincere and trusting heart. McLeod believes that any prayer should be accompanied with faith, trust, confidence, and hope. He successfully connects the tenets of Biblical supplication to the daily lives of contemporary Christians inundated with joys, successes, failures, losses, and sacrifices. As a whole, the book offers a biblical perspective that is relevant to all Christians today.
