What Are Children Learning “about” Islam
and the Middle East in Public Schools? by David Pimentel Trafford Publishing
book review by Maggie Harding
"This country is in grave danger because its enemies are many, but the greatest are those who are wearing suits and ties so as not to appear threatening or suspicious."
Those of us who are old enough to remember the Cold War days, when some people were warning about the Communist threat, will find parallels in this work by David Pimentel. While back in those days the threat of Communists taking over America seemed distant to many, the terrorist threat today is imminent and observable. Our soil has been attacked by those professing the superiority of Islam. And the most self-righteous among them justify the attacks and are bold enough to blame the victims.
Pimentel is a patriotic American who sees his country being threatened by enemies throughout the world. Some are attacking financially; others are attacking spiritually and still others are standing by cheering for those who would destroy us. He provides many documented examples of subtle and not so subtle attempts to undermine the American culture and to subvert American ethics. These come from the news media, the movie industry, and even the public school educators.
It is the educators that Pimentel focuses on by questioning the disparity between the way that the public school system regards the Judeo/Christian religions vs. Islam. While the Supreme Court banned prayer and Christian beliefs from being taught in public schools, the teaching of Islamic culture, reciting Muslim prayers and encouraging the students to adopt Muslim names has not been addressed.
In this small book of less than seventy pages, the author presents many documented examples of how anti-American, anti Judeo/Christian, and pro Islamic values are being taught in our public schools. If this is a concern of yours, you will find What Are Children Learning... very bold and interesting.
