Why Me? But the Lord said "I AM ABLE."
by Pastor (Dr.) Michael O. Akintayo
Trafford Publishing

"I pray that at your lowest point in life, God will empower you."

What are your afflictions today, Akintayo asks. You don't have a job? Or do you have marital problems, are you a single parent, or are you failing at school or some other endeavor? Responding to the common complaint of "why me," the author uses stories to encourage trust in God. He tells of the God who was able to comfort Job in his testing and to bless Joseph when sold into slavery by his brothers. He describes how a teenaged David defeated the giant Goliath with a slingshot and stone, and how David's great-relative, Ruth, trusted in God's provision after her first husband's death.

Akintayo adds personal stories, too: the illness and death of his own father and the trials of a church brother facing deportation to Liberia. Each man experienced divine help. The author was able to accept the changing seasons of life, and the church brother's deportation was miraculously overturned.

You can almost hear the author speaking the messages aloud throughout the book. An example, "Do not limit the power of God in your life by refusing to acknowledge your weaknesses. Be honest about them and God will transform and use them for His glory. Remember that you are not alone."

Eight chapters address these and other topics such as, Spiritual Reality, Why Worry When You Can Pray, and Press On. The 68-page paperback book was typed for publication by a volunteer who was not a native-English speaker. Grammatical issues lend the book the flavor of the Nigerian community in America where Akintayo ministers. Research for exact Bible quotations would have polished the book to perfection.
