Idalah Womack

I started writing when I worked for the federal government when I was eighteen years old. After I purchased a car, a co-worker who wrote for a city newspaper asked me to chauffeur her. Eagerly, I accepted her offer. She asked me to proofread some of the manuscripts sent to her. A couple of years later, I was a college student, and I realized the more I wrote, the better I wrote. I had an internship with a Quaker woman who told me, "In my line of work, often, seeing the outcome of my intervention would never happen, you need a hobby you can see come to completion." I started writing poetry. Thereafter, I was employed as a school social worker, and by retirement, I had interacted with more than 1,400 families. Their numerous life experiences inspired the book, To The Utmost Jesus Saves, which depicts how clients and I lived through many life-threatening situations.

During the second year of a college scholarship, the support was cut. I took one of about fifteen on-campus jobs. For two years, I was hired as a phone operator replacing two men. Numerous calls were made by teens seeking college help. Although I referred them to the financial aid and admissions office, I wanted to do more. I remember one day pounding on the table at the end of the call room while asking God to help me help the children. (Tears come to my eyes as I tell this.) While dismayed, I one day walked through the campus library and noticed grants lists on a bulletin board. I started searching numerous sources at many locations. After writing 128 letters, I received a grant with a list of twenty-five more. It inspired the first edition of free college money. Many books promise to give the reader helpful how-to and reference information. Often authors speak in generalities. I share factual and lived experiences.

My experience with The U.S. Review of Books has been excellent. How to respond to interview questions is thorough, succent and easy to assist an author's completion for their service. I appreciate as well their assistance with marketing. I will use it for subsequent books.
