Robin Carole

Grandma's Bucket of Mercy is a heartwarming, non-fiction children's book centered on themes of kindness, forgiveness, and intergenerational wisdom. It is a 'true story' based on my own childhood experiences in the 1960s, designed to teach young readers (ages 8-12) about quiet compassion—and for the "childlike spirit in adults!" I wrote the book to:

• To Honor My Family Legacy: The story is a tribute to the "grit and grace" of the women who survived the Dust Bowl and Great Depression, specifically my own grandmother, mother, and aunts.
• To Share a Lesson on Mercy: The book is designed to illustrate how small, anonymous acts of kindness (or "mercy") can have a profound, lasting impact on a person's life--even transforming them.
• To Pass Down Values: Drawing from my childhood, my goal is to pass down the lessons of compassion and quiet strength I have learned from my family to a new generation.
• To Inspire Compassion: It is intended to be a "heartfelt tribute to the power of quiet acts of compassion" and to remind readers that even children can change the world through kindness. 
  

I am currently working on another nonfiction story for children... and cat lovers around the world. It is the tue story of my own cat that was involved in a bizarre accident, and how her life was saved by a common household spice. It will be available in fall 2026. 

I encourage everyone to write for all ages. Your voice is worth hearing, and writing is an excellent and fun activity. For me, it was important to share the voices of my family who have since passed and the life lessons they imparted to me.

About the Author: Robin Carole was born in California and grew up in the wine country region. Carole worked in the educational setting for over forty years. She provided interpreting services and instruction for deaf students (all academic levels) until her retirement in 2016. Carole later moved to Washington State to be closer to her family. She loves spending time with family and friends, listening to the oldies, gardening (which is mostly pulling weeds), and playing with her pets. She also enjoys sharing stories of yesteryear. "My education, my work, my goals, and accomplishments are here for only a moment, but my family is a lifetime."
