Tricia Spencer

I've been a dog mom all my life, beginning with the gift of my first dog on my first birthday. She was one year old, too, and we grew together until she passed away on Thanksgiving Day, just two weeks shy of my 17th birthday. Gizi is featured at the beginning of my Forever Dogs book. The scores of other dogs who make an appearance also lived and passed long ago. To honor them, I used only real antique and vintage dog photographs, but of course, I confess to putting words in their little canine mouths.

I have two completed books awaiting publication. One is nonfiction: Happiness Be Mine! – My "Just For Me" Spirit Prayers Joyful Liviing Journal, a gentle guided journal for living one's best life. The other is Brave Destiny – The Dragon's Bride, a fictional Regency-era historical romance set on the high seas. Books in progress include another Forever Dogs book, a self-help guide for eBay sellers, and a very special "WII" book.

No matter the topic, I hope that my writing is an enjoyable read, and, I'm always open to suggestions. For example, the pending "WWII" book is the result of reader input in response to some of my military posts on my Facebook Author page. The post excerpts from "Dad Roberts," whomever he was, were especially resonating because they were so "in the moments." Dad Roberts created a poetic view of military life to sell to his fellow soldiers during WWII. I was fortunate to acquire what may be the only existing twenty-five-cent booklet left, and though I don't know his real name, his words will now live on for all to experience. Many WWII military personnel who also mused passionately or humorously or sadly about their WWII lives will also grace the pages.

This review process is enlightening. Being reviewed by The US Review of Books, and answering interview questions, forces writers to engage in a deep retrospect of an author's relationship with their books. Further, it spurs anticipation and examination of future works. Both of those internal exercises are valuable to any author looking to share their work with the world.
